Caroline believes the power of beauty and poetry can make us forget about the toughness of the world around us. Inspired by Renaissance art she wanted to recreate the effect of brushstrokes through textiles. When looking at Roman architecture she found that many historical buildings were, though not intact or perfect, still well preserved. To reconstruct or renovate them people raise scaffolding and isolate them with nets. As a matter of fact, Caroline finds such a conflict quite beautiful: the coexistence of ancient and modern made the architecture more appealing.
