Laura Olivella

Colombian, Born 22nd August 1990

Life is not what we live, but what we remember and what we transmit to others. It is essential to involve personal experiences and beliefs into design to create artefacts that express unique and unalterable stories. These pieces tell the story of aesthetics that have influenced Laura and they are related to the culture and heritage of Colombia. This collection updates the enriched iconography used by the Colombian Indigenous ‘Arhuacos’ and evolves these symbols into the contemporary fashion world. These indigenous graphics symbolize the creation of life, represent the cultural identity of the tribe and reflect the way they think.
